11' 6" Explora Dome II Concept Drawings

We are now working on a New 140" Diameter Explora Dome II with a 45" Wide Hatch Opening that goes 20" past Zenith. This new model would come in 3 main sections that you would bolt together to from the Observatory Dome. If all goes according to plan the hatch door will be in 2 sections that will telescope inside one another. The drawings below show different details of how the Dome would go together and how the doors would work. This Observatory Dome would be a Big Brother to the 1 piece 8' Explora Dome we make now, allowing for the larger telescopes that are use in Astronomy today. The building below the Dome can be made in many different configurations to fit the end users needs either by us or your local contractor.

This Observatory Dome would also be able to be Fully Automated for off site control.

We will be using a rolled metal ring as the wheel channel. It will fasten to the side skirt of the Dome and the bottom lip of Dome this will also help hold the Domes Shape

I would also like to give a Special Thanks to Randy Zugnoni for his outstanding effort on making all these drawings for this project.

If you are interested in purchasing the ED II please fill out the form below.

  • We have now decided to move forward on the EDII If you signed up for the Early Bird Special you will be among the lucky few to receive the discounted pricing offered.
  • We will also be showing a building with the Dome as soon as we have the drawings done.
  • The building I will be making roof panels for will be 166" Square the Horizon will be 26 - 28" above the wall height.
  • A building 12 X 12 would not need special roof panels just a little corner covering the Horizon would be about 12" above the wall height.

I hope this answer your question if not please reply again these are the things I need to think about also.

Thank You
Dan
